Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Being self-funded doesn’t prevent you from accessing government-subsidised aged care on the Central Coast. Eligibility is based on your care needs, not your income alone.

If approved through My Aged Care, you may still receive Support at Home funding, with any personal contribution assessed according to your circumstances.

Home care costs vary depending on the type of support services and when they’re delivered. As a general guide on the Central Coast:

  • Everyday support like personal care often starts from around $95 per hour under a Self-managed Membership
  • Clinical services, such as in-home nursing, are higher, commonly $160 per hour or more

Services like personal care or 24-hour support all have different rates, with higher pricing for evenings, weekends and public holidays. If you’re approved for Support at Home funding, some costs may be subsidised.

You may be eligible for the Support at Home program if you live on the Central Coast and:

  • Are aged 65 or over (or 50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people)
  • Are experiencing changes to mobility, memory, health or daily living
  • Need ongoing support beyond what family or community services can provide

An assessment through My Aged Care confirms eligibility and assigns a funding level, outlining what services you can access to help you stay independent at home.

If you are not eligible for the Support at Home program, you are able to self-fund your in-home age care support. Discover our Self-managed and Full Service Membership options for self-funded home care.
