We’re here to help with dementia care support at home

How is dementia home care funded in Australia?

Dementia care at home can be funded through several government programs and private options:

  • Support at Home Program – For older Australians needing aged care support, including those living with dementia. Funding is based on assessed needs and can cover personal care, nursing, allied health and support services.
  • NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) – For people under 65 with younger onset dementia. NDIS funding can cover personal care, community access, allied health and support coordination.
  • Private funding – You can also choose to pay privately for dementia care services, with flexible options to suit your budget and needs.

Yes. Dementia care needs evolve, and support can adapt to an individual’s changing needs. With our Full-Service Membership, we’ll regularly review routines, safety needs, and goals, adjusting services, visit frequency, and Helper skill levels to match your stage of dementia. If you decide to change your membership at any point, we’ll ensure continuity with your supports so that you’re services are always reliable.

Home dementia care is mainly funded through the Support at Home program, which provides government-funded support for at-home aged care such as personal care, dementia-specific assistance, nursing, routines, safety monitoring, transport, equipment, and respite. Opt for a Full Service Membership for fully coordinated care, or a Self-Managed Membership to select your team and manage visits.

You can also pay for private home care while waiting for approval, or if you need to ‘top up’ any services. You can explore our Full Service or Self-Managed options if this applies to you.

People diagnosed with dementia before age 65 (or under 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) may be eligible for the NDIS, as dementia is recognised as a disability under the scheme. If approved, supports can include daily living assistance, behaviour support, therapies, community access, and home safety measures.
