Simon Lockyer
Simon is the co-founder and CEO of Five Good Friends and has built a career focused on a combined enjoyment for building social enterprises underpinned by strong business practicality.
In 2016, Simon and his co-founder, Nathan Betteridge, together with Tim Russell and David Waldie, started Five Good Friends.
Prior to Five Good Friends, Simon co-founded Everydayhero, a pioneering Software as a Service, Peer-to-Peer fundraising platform. Everydayhero has facilitated over $700 Million in donations and was acquired by the NASDAQ listed US company Blackbaud (BLKB) in 2011.
Following the acquisition by Blackbaud, Simon remained on as Global Marketing Director with a focus on growing the business in international markets and developing innovative ecosystem partnerships with world leading fitness tracking applications including Map My Fitness and Strava.
Simon also was a co-founder and the inaugural CEO of the Not for Profit organisation Youngcare whose achievements include building Australia's first nursing for young people with high care needs.
Prior to Five Good Friends, Everydayhero and Youngcare, Simon built a successful career in advertising and was the Queensland Managing Director of the international agency, McCann Erickson.
Simon currently serves on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland. Previous Board positions include Edmund Rice Foundation, Princess Alexandra Research and Development Foundation and Queensland Music Festival.
Nathan Betteridge
Nathan is the co-founder and CFO of Five Good Friends and brings to the board a strong understanding of entrepreneurship, technology, cause related marketing and sales. Nathan has long held the belief that there is an opportunity to create good business with commercial outcomes as well as having a social impact.
Together with his co-founder Simon Lockyer and colleagues, Tim Russell and David Waldie, Nathan started Five Good Friends in 2016.

Previously, Nathan held positions as the Sales Account Manager with Sara Lee and National Marketing Manager with Suncorp Bank.
Tim Russell
Tim is a Chartered Accountant and commenced his career with Ernst & Young as an auditor in 1989. On completion of his professional qualifications, Tim spent 10 years in investment banking and funds management with Graham & Company and Bankers Trust. At Bankers Trust, Tim held the position of Managing Director – Capital Transactions. Tim left BT in 2003 to work for FKP Limited as General Manager – Investments and was responsible for creating the Real Estate Funds Management business for FKP, as well as overall responsibility for FKPs retirement business.
In late 2005, Tim founded Meridien Retirement Living (now RetireAustralia) and held the position of Chief Executive Officer until May 2015. At the time of sale to Infratil Limited and New Zealand Superannuation in December 2014, RetireAustralia was the largest, privately owned retirement village operator in Australia, comprising 28 villages spread throughout Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia, with a total of over 3,800 villas and apartments.
Tim left the company in 2015 to establish Aura Australia Holdings Pty Ltd and Five.Good.Friends. Aura develops and manages medium to high end retirement communities, typically in metropolitan areas and/or on sporting club land. Aura has a current pipeline of over 900 apartments on six sites and is advancing negotiations on further sites in other South East Queensland and New South Wales locations. The pipeline is expected to grow to 2000+ apartments over five years.
Helen Weston
Helen Weston founded Mobile Rehab in 1996 and is key in its continuous development as Queensland’s leading community based allied health provider. An experienced clinician and business leader, she has worked in UK, USA and Egypt and has a rich knowledge of for-profit, not for profit and government run health delivery models.
With an employee base of more 160, Mobile Rehab runs an exceptional graduate program (as recognised by Australian Association of Graduate Employers) and had a proud tradition of flexible and initiative employment arrangements. An agile organisation, Mobile Rehab has leveraged its understanding of community services to diversify into the disability sector and is now a leading NDIS provider in south east Queensland. Championing a client centre approach the organisation delivers high quality health and wellness services on an accredited ISO 9001 quality platform.
While maintaining her active role as MD of Mobile Rehab, Helen also holds positions on Curriculum Consulting Committees at University of Queensland and Australian Catholic University, and is a guests lecturer in the fields of professorial leadership, aged care services and community based rehabilitation.
Dr. Nic Woods
Dr Nic Woods is Health Industry Executive, Chief Medical Officer at Microsoft Australia. Having over 25 years’ experience in clinical medicine and digital health globally, Nic has held diverse roles in health tech incubators, national digital health programs and medical executive leadership roles within the digital health and technology industry.
His role at Microsoft is to positively impact the healthcare of all Australians, through a thriving ecosystem of partners and the innovative use of technologies such as advanced analytics, AI and medical internet of things.
