Frequently Asked Questions

Gold Coast families have flexibility when it comes to paying for home care:

  • You can choose private payment to get started immediately
  • Or access government funding through the Support at Home program or the NDIS if you’re under 65 (or over 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples)

Even with funding, payments may apply depending on your income, type of care, and hours needed. This way, your family can plan support that fits both your needs and your budget.

To get government-subsidised home care in Queensland, you apply through the Support at Home program. You may qualify if you’re:

  • 65 or over (50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people)
  • Living with a disability, dementia, or mobility limitations and need help to stay independent at home

An aged care assessment confirms your eligibility and funding classification, so you know exactly what support you can access.

Our Helpers live and work in the same communities as you, from Broadbeach to Southport, Robina to Burleigh Heads. Simply enter your postcode to see if we have local Helpers nearby. By choosing local support, you maintain your connection to familiar streets, favourite cafes and the everyday places that make home feel like home.

The cost depends on the type of services you need — personal care, domestic support, nursing, respite, or overnight care — plus time of day, weekends, and public holidays. For example:

  • Standard personal care may start around $95/hour
  • Nursing care is higher, often $160/hour or more

If you’re paying privately, services can start soon after your Membership is finalised. Otherwise, services begin once your Support at Home or NDIS funding is approved. Services can include personal care, dementia support, respite or 24-hour home care.

We can help with applications and ensure your existing Helpers continue seamlessly, so there’s no disruption in care while you wait to transition from privately funded home care to government funding.
