Private nurses can be an invaluable part of your support team. They provide clinical nursing services such as wound care and medication management, catheter care and overall health monitoring. 

They also manage complex conditions and coordinate with doctors and allied health professionals.  With Five Good Friends, Sydney families can quickly find local, verified nurses who help make home life smoother, safer and more enjoyable.

Yes! Members can speak to their care team to discuss specific needs, routines and preferences. Your care coordinator manages these conversations and can answer any (and all!) questions. This ensures the right private nurses or support worker is matched to your household. We offer a wide range of services, from personal care to everyday assistance, so that you can tailor care exactly to your family’s needs.

  1. To access Support at Home, you first need an assessment by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). 
  2. This determines your package level and the types of support available. 
  3. To arrange an assessment, contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. 
  4. Once allocated, you can use your funding for services such as nursing, respite care,companionship and more, helping your loved one stay safe and independent at home.

Support at Home is available to Australians aged over 65 (or 50 and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) assessed as needing extra care to stay independent at home. Once approved, your package can be self-managed or fully managed by a provider. You can read more about our pricing for Support at Home to discover more. 

Sydney families use a mix of these in-home care services, from dementia support to post-hospital care, to match support to their loved one’s needs and lifestyle, giving peace of mind for everyone involved. To receive NDIS in-home care and community supports in Sydney, you must be an approved participant of the NDIS. 

Eligibility generally requires:

  • Being under 65 years old when applying
  • Living with a permanent and significant disability
  • Being an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder
