Absolutely. While not clinical carers, companions can support structure, routine, and cognitive stimulation through conversation, orientation prompts, activities, and calm presence. They help reduce anxiety, confusion, and loneliness, while observing subtle changes that families may overlook.

If you are paying privately or have already been assigned Support at Home or NDIS funding, we find out your preferences and interests so we can match you, or your loved one, with a with a suitable companion. Timing can be dependent on availability within your location so its best to call the Five Good Friends team to discuss your individual requirements.

Companions aren’t medical carers. Instead, they provide connection, conversation, outings, and gentle help at home, but they don’t handle clinical tasks like wound care or medication administration. If your family needs both companionship and clinical support, we can seamlessly add nurses or specialised Helpers so everything works together around your loved one’s needs.
