Yes, you have the legal right to switch home care providers at any time under Australia's Support at Home program. Your funding follows you, not your provider. Five Good Friends can manage the entire transition on your behalf, including helping you notify your current provider and coordinating the transfer of your Support at Home funding through My Aged Care. Most switches are completed within two to four weeks.

No. Your Support at Home funding is yours, it stays with you when you switch providers. Five Good Friends works directly with My Aged Care to transfer your funding across once you become a Member, so there is no gap in services and no loss of your funding.

Your funding moves with you. You don’t need to take any new funding applications, there is no waiting period, no loss of budget, no exit fees. Your support at home funding stays with you regardless of your provider.

Most providers require a cancelation notice in writing, check your agreement to confirm your current provider’s process. You don't have to manage that conversation yourself. When you join Five Good Friends, we help you notify your current provider on your behalf. You are not required to give a lengthy explanation, under the Support at Home program, switching is your right and providers are obligated to cooperate with a smooth handover.

In most cases, no. Five Good Friends coordinates your transition so that your care continues without interruption. We work to schedule your first visit with a new Helper to align with the last visit of your previous provider, and we keep you informed at every step so there are no gaps in your support.

After we set up your care plan, we match you with Helpers; you choose who you’d like to work with so you get the same familiar faces week on week. Our app gives you visibility of who is coming to your home and when.

Your unspent Support at Home funds transfer with you when you change providers. These funds are held by the Australian Government through My Aged Care and are not owned by your current provider, so they cannot be withheld or absorbed when you leave. Five Good Friends will help you understand your current balance and plan how to use it effectively once you become a Member. The transferred of funds between providers is managed by Services Australia and it can take up to 70 days before you use your funds with a new provider. Your monthly allowance, which is separate from the unspent funds amount, enables you and your new provider to put services in place for continuity of care.
