Earn $36.80+ an hour

Pick the rates you charge and the hours you work - your income is completely up to you. Helpers net $36.80+ per hour for standard visits on average. Our most active Helpers earned over $120,000 last year!

What do I need to apply?

You will need the following on hand to apply as a Helper:

 • An Australian Business Number (ABN) or willingness to obtain one - you can apply for one here
 • A reliable smartphone with data to use the Five Good Friends app while you’re on the go
 • A passport or drivers licence to verify your identity
 • A National Police Check (you can apply for one here) or NDIS worker screening check to verify your background
 • The details of two referees we can contact regarding your work history and/or character

How long will it take to apply?

If you've got all your paperwork together, the application process will take about 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete. If you need to take a break or step away during the application process, that is totally okay. We’ll email you a link inviting you to continue filling in your application whenever it next best suits you.

Background and referee checks: To ensure the safety of our Members, the application requires a background check and the details of two referees. This can take 2-3 business days for Five Good Friends to verify.

How long until I start receiving work?

Once you're on the platform, you should begin to receive opportunities right away. You'll also hear from a Helper Coach who can assist you in maximising your ability to receive opportunities. How long it takes to find your first match will depend on the opportunities available near you and the services and skills you offer. It could take several weeks before you receive your first client, so please be patient.

How much can I earn?

Our recommended hourly rate for standard visits is $36.80 per hour after platform fees. You can negotiate lower or higher rates per Member. When deciding upon the rates you charge, it’s important to consider things like the cost of transport, professional memberships, training to gain new skills or certifications, the Five Good Friends platform fee, qualifications you’ve attained, how in demand you are, and so forth. How much you earn is up to the rates you agree upon with your clients, the demand for your skills and services, and how many hours you work. How and when will I get paid?

You’ll get paid weekly direct to your bank account for the services you completed in the past week. We'll help you out by automatically generating invoices for your services and managing payments to your bank account every week. We also help you keep track of payments and your earnings for the financial year come tax time. Everything is transparently displayed in the Five Good Friends app so you can budget accordingly.

How do I get the app?

If your application is successful, we’ll send you an invite to download and log in to the app. You can otherwise download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

How has COVID-19 affected being a Helper?

Helpers have been delivering home visits safely throughout the COVID-19 pandemic with the support of Five Good Friends. We do require Helpers to follow the vaccine mandates set out by each state, which commonly now requires a double dose vaccination for all work.
