Welcome Aboard

Welcome and thank you joining the Five Good Friends Platform as a Helper!

Starting out as Helper, and an independent contractor, can sometimes be a little overwhelming. It is no secret that your role as a Helper on the Five Good Friends platform is how we make the magic happen for our Members - thank you!

We want to ensure that we are giving you the recognition and support that you require to continue to do what you love to do. Along with this, we want you to feel valued, supported and in control. It needs to be just as magical for our Helpers as it is for those wanting to remain living in their homes.

Getting Started - Download the App

Download the Five Good Friends app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. This will give you quick and convenient access the all of the Five Good Friends account features.

In your first week we will also send you an invitation to your Five Good Friends account. Your account will become the way you:

  • View your visits
  • Change and add visits at the Members request
  • View contact details
  • Rate visits and send notes to the Community Manager
  • Check in to let the family know when you are there
  • Check out at the completion of the visit to invoice your Members

Communication and Resources

The Helper Hub is where we regularly share news and industry updates, events, learning and development opportunities, business support and self-care tips.

Our organisational policies are accessible on the Hub and we will share any updates on here also.

While you are getting set up, it is a great time to take a look at our Learning and Development program. We have developed our program with a clear understanding of what Helpers need to know, based on what the Five Good Membership tells us. Once you come on board, we will send you an email to your Learnupon account.

We also provide Helpers with dedicated training facilitators and community coaches to ensure they can achieve their goals and feel qualified to take on the workload they desire. Most of the training is self-paced, online and crosses a broad range of topics, including basic medication, personal care, manual handling, through to how to use our magic technology and grow your own care business.

Our dedicated Helper Support Team

We have a dedicated team who are there to support and assist you, so you can focus on what matters most - providing support and care to Five Good Friends Members. In 2022, we are growing our Helper Team and will be providing Helpers in our network with more meetups, more learning and development and more tips and guides on growing your member base.

As part of our Helper Team we have;

  • People Coaches - onboard our wonderful helpers and ensure all their checks (e.g National Police Check) remain current. If you know someone who would make a superstar Helper we have a referal rewards program!
  • Community Coaches - provide on the ground coaching for Helpers and support Helper learning and development.* Helper Coordinators - our matching specialists who will send you opportunities for the perfect ongoing matches for you.
  • Rostering Support Team - our firefighters who will send you opportunities for emergency and short-term visits and help if you can't attend a visit and aren't able to reschedule or find a replacement Helper.
  • Oncall Team - available outside of business hours (Monday to Friday 8am-5pm) to support with urgent matters such as incidents or emergency visit cover.
  • Finance and Administration - Provide Helper support with any invoicing and finance queries.

Member Support

It takes a team working together to deliver our Members truly exceptional care. Sometimes, the Member you are supporting will need assistance to talk to their care team.

At Five Good Friends, we have a Care Team that consists of a group of specialists committed to the key areas of our Members support. Check your App once matched with a Member to see the Care Team supporting each of your Members'.

As part of the Care Team we have;

  • Care Managers - ensure the help we provide is aligned to Member goals and changing needs. Contact the Care Manager for any Member related care concerns.
  • Member Services Team - support our Member phone hotline and are our all rounders who can solve many queries for Helpers and Members!
  • Community Nurses- provide clinical nursing support to Members.


Since the pandemic began in February 2020, our goal and commitment has been to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our Members, Helpers and staff. This commitment has not changed.

Five Good Friends are proactively monitoring the situation. We are following the advice of authorities, peak bodies and expert panels including, Commonwealth and State Health Departments, Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI), and the Australian Health Protection Principle Committee (AHPPC).

It’s important to recognise everyday we work with people, our Members, who are at greater risk than many of us with the impacts of COVID-19.

  • We have a dedicated COVID-19 Response Team who regularly monitor the latest updates and communicate with Helpers and Members. View a comprehensive list of our COVID-19 Safe Work Practices here.
  • Please stay up to date with the latest email updates we will send and read our COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedure.
  • Any Helpers with cold or flu like symptoms, who meet isolation criteria or are being tested must contact their Helper Coordinator asap on 07 3532 0796. As per our Attending Work Guidelines they cannot attend work and must be tested.
  • It is the responsibility of independent Helper contractors to obtain their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) independently, if they are unable to acquire their own they can place an order through the PPE Pack Order Form, the PPE is free and Helpers only need to pay for delivery.
  • As per our Standard Operating Procedure if you live or work in a lockdown area, or where masks are mandated it is essential you read Scenarios 2b and 2c and wear the required PPE (gloves, masks, aprons). We'll send you regular updates and alerts in the App when these scenarios apply in your area.
