Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Safe Work Practices

The following information and resources are designed to protect Five Good Friends workers, members and other partners, as well as manage confirmed and suspected cases during the Covid-19 pandemic.

  1. Standard Operating Procedure

This document is for all Five Good Friends Workers (Helpers on the Five Good Friends Platform, Employees and Casuals). The purpose of this document is to provide guidance on how to safely deliver services to people during the current coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

  1. Attending Work Guidelines

These guidelines state our clear position on when not to come to work, and then returning to work, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  1. Reduced Contact and Contactless Protocols, Competency Assessment and Webinar

These protocols are for services where contact can be minimised or eliminated. The protocol and competency assessment developed covers information such as general social distancing and hygiene guidelines as well as contactless or reduced contact practices for visits. A training webinar is available to support learning of these protocols.

  1. Access to PPE

Five Good Friends has been able to secure quantities of masks and gloves from the national stockpile which is accessible to workers. It is the responsibility of independent contractors on the platform to obtain their PPE independently, if they are unable to acquire their own they can place an order through the PPE Pack Order Form.

  1. Residential Aged Care Report Form

Following the advice of authorities including the Commonwealth Department of Health and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. We have been asked to identify Helpers on the Five Good Friends platform who also work in a Residential Aged Care Facility. Helpers can declare this on the Residential Aged Care Report Form

  1. Department of Health - COVID-19 infection control training

This online training is for care workers across all health care settings, including aged care and disability workers, both in a residential and community setting. The module covers the fundamentals of infection prevention and control for COVID-19.

Five Good Friends are holding regular webinars to provide relevant training and the latest updates for Helpers providing providing services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  1. Coronovirus Report Form and Register

Five Good Friends workers, members and other partners have been frequently advised to report COVID-19 signs, symptoms, testing, isolation and quarantine requirements and contact with potiential and confirmed cases to the organisation. Five Good Friends staff have an internal Coronovirus Report Form to complete in response to each report which is then logged and tracked in our COVID-19 register.

  1. Workflow for Determining Essential and Non-Essential Services

Five Good Friends have developed a workflow for internal use to provide guidance to Care Teams undertaking decisions around the continuation of services to and by people affected by the coronavirus outbreak - covid-19. The workflow is considerd alonside the scenarios identified in the Standard Operating Procedure.

  1. Coronovirus Response Team

Five Good Friends have an established response team who meet weekly, and as required, to monitor the situation closely and coordinate our response. We are linked in to the advice of the Department of Health (DoH) and our peak body Leading Aged Services Australia to guide our activity. The team are in regular communication with workers, members and other partners.
