Coronavirus (Covid 19) - Victoria Lockdown 27.05.21

Due to the recent COVID-19 outbreaks the Victorian Government is implementing circuit breaker restrictions for Victoria from 11.59pm on 27th May 2021. These restrictions will remain in place until 11:59pm 3rd June 2021.

Under the guidance provided by The Victorian State Government, Five Good Friends Helpers can travel for their work so that visits to members can continue.

As per the restriction guidelines there are only five reasons for residents to leave their home:

  1. Shopping for necessary goods and services
  2. Authorised work or permitted education
  3. Exercise – a 2-hour limit with one other person
  4. Care giving, compassionate, and medical reasons
  5. To get vaccinated

For further information on the restrictions visit the Victoria Government website.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Scenario 2B in our Standard Operating Procedure applies during this lockdown period. You are required to wear a mask, gloves, and apron. If you do not have disposable aprons, you must remove and change the outer layer of your clothing after leaving the Member's home; this applies whether you are visiting another Member or returning home.

You must read scenario 2B and ensure you have the required PPE prior to your visit and take all necessary precautions. PPE is now readily available in the community however if you are unable to source PPE contact your Helper Coordinator on 07 3532 0796. You can also place an order here.

Rescheduling visits

We encourage you to liaise directly with your Members to discuss any non-essential services which may be able to be rescheduled for another time, such as yard maintenance or community access for social activities. Please update the App if you are cancelling or rescheduling any services in consultation with your Members. If you require any assistance with this or have any concerns about your visits please contact your Helper Coordinator on 07 3532 0796.

Essential care worker proof

Use the Five Good Friends App along with your drivers licence to verify you are a Helper (essential care worker). Within the App you have your Helper Brokerage Agreement which you can show, you also have your photo and the address of the Member you are visiting. For privacy and confidentiality reasons only disclose the address of the Member if requested by Victoria Police, other emergency officers or Commonwealth officers

Testing is a priority

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 such as a cough, fever, sore throat, shortness of breath or runny nose, even if these are mild, you should get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible. Information on getting tested is available here.

We encourage you to check immediately whether you have attended any of the exposure sites during the identified periods. Follow guidelines on the exposure site website as to whether you must be tested or isolate.

Please advise us immediately if you are going to be tested and ensure you are following our attending work guidelines.

Please remain vigilant and diligent

We urge you to be vigilant in your management of COVID-19. To date your dedicated and committed response has helped ensure the safety of your Members and the community. You provide an incredibly important service to the community at a very important time. We have written to all members asking for their understanding if Helpers do need to cancel visits at short notice. We support you to do this and will work hard to ensure minimal disruption to your Members.

Thank you for being a Helper on the Five Good Friends platform and the kind and thoughtful help you provide your Members.
