Coronavirus (Covid 19) - Update 23-12-22
Thank you for being a Helper with Five Good Friends. It is wonderful to work in partnership with you to provide care and support to our Members.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been very challenging for all of us. We wanted to assure you that we will continue working hard to maintain services and the safety and wellbeing of everyone over the Christmas period and throughout 2022.
Maintaining our vigilance
We continue to urge all Members, Helpers, and Five Good Friends team members to be vigilant in their management of COVID-19. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19, please get tested, follow your state isolation requirements and notify Five Good Friends immediately by calling our Helper Hotline on 07 3532 0796.
You must not attend work until you have received a negative COVID-19 PCR test.
If you have received your COVID-19 booster vaccine please email your immunisation record to email@example.com.
Ensuring Member services
We are committed to ensuring our Members receive the support they need. Throughout the pandemic we have relied on our Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to safely guide services. We are currently following the guidelines for scenario 2C in the SOP. This includes Helpers wearing a mask for all visits even if your Member offers for you to remove it. In addition, Public Health Directives requiring vaccination of Helpers and Five Good Friends team members have been diligently followed in all states.
Supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are readily available in the community. If you are having trouble securing supplies you can order PPE through Five Good Friends. You must ensure you know how to properly apply and dispose of PPE. Information and directives on how to do this are contained in the resources section of the SOP.
We encourage Helpers to remain current with the infection control training and to complete the Department of Health COVID-19 Infection Control course again if you haven't done so recently. The course is available here.
Encouraging best practice
If your Member is required to get a COVID-19 test and cancels a visit at short notice we would be grateful for your understanding. We have written to all Members to ask for their understanding if Helpers have to cancel services due to being tested for COVID-19. Please be assured, we have been managing these types of situations throughout the pandemic and will work very hard to reschedule the visits when Members return a negative result.
