The Commonwealth and State Governments continue to ease restrictions with the goal of moving the community to a position where we can 'live with COVID-19'. Our primary focus throughout the pandemic has been to ensure the health and safety of our Helpers, Members and staff. While the community may start to feel a greater sense of ease, restrictions and reporting requirements remain for Helpers and Five Good Friends (FGF) staff.

Queensland close contact requirements

Under Queensland Government guidelines if you are identified as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case, for work purposes you must follow the below guidelines:

  • You must advise Five Good Friends if you are a close contact.
  • You can continue to work in the home care setting only if you are symptom free.
  • You must monitor for symptoms and cannot attend work if you are symptomatic. You must notify FGF if you develop symptoms.
  • You must conduct regular rapid antigen tests (RAT) for a period of seven days.
    • Tests must be completed on day 0, 2, 4 and 6
    • Evidence of each test result must be provided to FGF prior to attending work. Send a photo of your RAT to
    • If you return a positive RAT test during this period you are not allowed to work. You must also notify FGF.
  • If you are helping Members in 'other settings' (eg residential aged care, retirement villages, hospitals or supported disability accommodation) you must comply with the requirements of these locations. You may not be able to attend. Contact FGF if unsure.
  • The COVID-19 Coordinators will review your roster and notify you if any of your Members have advised they prefer not to have Helpers attend visits who are close contacts.
  • If you are offered new matches or visits during your close contact period you must discuss your close contact status with your Workforce Coordinator to confirm if the Member would prefer close contacts not attend their home.
  • Refer to the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedure for the relevant that scenario that applies to your visits. You must have the required PPE.
