After the Government launched Consumer Directed Care (CDC) on February 27, 2017 both Gloria and her daughter Kathleen knew there were changes and that they now could have choice and control over Gloria’s in-home care, however they were being told conflicting stories from their current Provider. Freda’s Story- Stepping up Help: Crisis & Long-term Care
When Edith’s regular carer moved away from Brisbane and resigned from the Company she was using, her daughter Freda was faced with strangers coming into her mother’s house who she had no control over and, at the same time, she recognised Edith’s care needs were increasing with her dementia. This case study will provide insight into Freda’s care requirements for her mother, the support services she engaged and her experience with Five Good Friends membership.
Alison and Erica’s Story- Care from a Distance
Alison is a professional woman working in Sydney. Her mother is 83 years old and lives in Brisbane in the house where Alison grew up. Alison had previously arranged for her Mum to receive home care services via a government-funded package with an approved aged care provider. It just wasn’t working out and she knew she needed to find a better solution. This case study highlights Alison and her Mother Erica’s story and how becoming a member of Five Good Friends resulted in better care for Erica and brought Alison peace of mind.
